This is the thicker version of our Pre-Ox felt.
This black felt is a high temperature fabric made from Pre-Oxidized Acrylic Fiber. It has a fiberglass backing for strength. This fabric is typically used as a heavy duty welding blanket because of its high temperature resistance. Because of this, it works well as a heavy duty fire blanket for smothering difficult to extinguish tools. This fabric is inherently flame retardant, meaning that there is no treatment to wash out.
Because this is a very absorbent material, it makes a very good wick. It can be used for eating torches, absorbent layers under Kevlar, or any application that does not need the abrasive resistance of Kevlar.
This material is designed to protect welders from hot molten steel and is the most heat resistant material we sell.
Comparable products are sold under the names Panther Felt and Stealth felt.
