This black felt is a high temperature fabric made from Pre-Oxidized Acrylic Fiber. It has a Kevlar coated fiberglass woven backing for strength. This backing is similar to the tape wick we sell on our site. This fabric is typically used as a heavy duty welding blanket because of its high temperature resistance. Because of this, it works well as a heavy duty fire blanket for smothering difficult to extinguish tools. This fabric is inherently flame retardant, meaning that there is no treatment to wash out.
Because this is a very absorbent material, it makes a very good wick. This fabric gives the added advantage of having the strength of Kevlar with the heat resistance of Pre-Ox.
This material is designed to protect welders from hot molten steel and is the most heat resistant material we sell.
