Our Fire Bokkens start with only high quality top grade oak bokkens as a base. We wrap the bokken in aluminum tape to reflect heat and keep the wood from drying out. It is then wrapped in Nomex felt for further protection and to act as a fuel reserve. The final step is to cover it in a Kevlar sleeve for durability. The end result is a fire sword that is strong enough to take full combat blows and have a burn time of approximately 3-4 minutes using only white gas (naphtha). An over 5 minute burn can be achieved by using lamp oil (paraffin) with a spritz of white gas to help it ignite. Perfect for any fire combat performance!

Keep in mind that although the bokken is strong enough to take repeated full combat hits no bokken is indestructible and all types of wood will break with sufficient stress. Also the bokken is heavier than the shinai and much more unforgiving should you be struck by one. However it absorbs the blows much better than the shinai and you will notice very little reverberation traveling down your arm as a result.
